Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla

9888 Genesee Avenue, La Jolla (858) 626-4123 Established in 1924 in downtown La Jolla, Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla moved to its current site in 1964. This 450-bed facility also has San Diego’s only comprehensive breast care center, a women's pavilion and executive health and pain centers. It is a Level I regional designated trauma center.

Services include: intensive and critical care units, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatric care, chemical dependency, alcohol treatment, skilled nursing center, eating disorders, geriatric services and oncology.

Scripps Mercy Hospital

4077 Fifth Ave., San Diego (619) 294-8111 Founded in 1890, Scripps Mercy Hospital is one of the oldest and largest teaching hospitals in San Diego. This 520-bed medical center is located in the Hillcrest area and is a designated Level I regional trauma center. Through Scripps Mercy Clinic, it also provides quality, primary care for low-income patients. Services include: intensive and critical care units, urgent care center, chest pain center, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatric care, pediatric services, cancer treatment, sleep center and outpatient surgery.

Sharp Cabrillo Hospital

3475 Kenyon St., San Diego (619) 221-3400 This 226-bed medical center serves San Diego's beach communities and the Point Loma area. Services include: eye treatment center, health education, senior services, long-term care and its nationally recognized Diabetes Treatment and Research Center.

Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center

751 Medical Center Court, Chula Vista (619) 482-5800 Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center is the most comprehensive medical center in the South Bay area. This general and acute-care facility has 306 beds and is affiliated with the Birch Patrick Convalescent Center. Services include: cardiac and chest pain center, women's services, emergency services, oncology, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatric services, physical therapy, geriatric services, oncology, orthopedics, outpatient services and health education.

Sharp Coronado Hospital and HealthCare Center

250 Prospect Place, Coronado (619) 435-6251 This 204-bed acute-care facility is Coronado's only hospital. Services include: intensive care unit, critical care unit, obstetrics/gynecology, emergency care, pediatric services and skilled nursing facility.

Sharp Memorial Hospital

7901 Frost St., San Diego (858) 541-3400 Sharp Memorial Hospital serves the greater San Diego area. This full service, 330-bed, acute-care medical center is a designated Level I trauma center and nationally renowned multi-organ transplant center. Services include: transplants, physical rehabilitation, outpatient surgery, cardiology rehabilitation, oncology and neurology.

Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital

7850 Vista Hill Ave., San Diego (858) 694-8300 This 150-bed facility is the largest psychiatric hospital in San Diego County. Services include: treatment programs for adults, children and chemical dependents, offering partial hospitalization programs on and off the hospital campus.

Sharp Vista Pacifica Hospital

7989 Linda Vista Rd., San Diego (858) 576-1200 This is a small, 16-bed, and freestanding chemical dependency recovery hospital.

Services include: treatment for chemically dependent adults and their families including medically monitored detoxification and rehabilitation.

Tri-City Medical Center

4002 Vista Way, Oceanside (760) 724~8411 This acute-care, 397-bed facility is the primary hospital for the Oceanside/Vista/Carlsbad area. Services include: cardiovascular care, fully accredited cancer center, occupational health facilities, emergency services, rehabilitation services and home health care.

Vencor Hospital

1940 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego (619) 543-4500 Vencor is a full-service 70-bed medical center known for its extensive ventilator-dependent care and aggressive ventilator-weaning program. It is the only long-term acute-care facility in San Diego County.

Services include: intensive care unit, critical care unit, psychiatric care, physical therapy, Stage I and IV wound care, pulmonary care and management of infectious disease.

Villa view Community Hospital

5550 University Ave., San Diego (619) 582-9516 Villa view Community Hospital serves the health care needs of the mid city area. With 100 beds, it is equipped to service a wide range of medical needs including psychiatric care and limited surgeries.

Children's Hospital and Health Center

3020 Children's Way, San Diego (858) 576-1700 This 220-bed hospital includes the county's designated pediatric trauma center and has the only emergency care center in the region designed for children. Services include: cardiovascular surgery, child-protection center, outpatient psychiatric care, pediatric rehabilitation, hematology, oncology, pediatric intensive care   unit,   neonatal   intensive   care   unit, orthopedic/motion analysis, outpatient clinics and speech and hearing therapy.

 

Naval Medical Center San Diego

4800 Bob Wilson Dr., san Diego (619) 532-6400 Naval Medical Center San Diego is a full-service, 500-bed acute-care teaching hospital which also operates a network of primary care clinics and is the military h largest, most technologically advanced medical center. Services include: obstetrics/gynecology, emergency care, psychiatric care, physical therapy, chemical and alcohol dependency treatment, skilled nursing, cancer treatment, a neonatal intensive care unit and pediatric intensive care unit.

 

Salk Institute for Biological Studies

Services include: cancer treatment, AIDS research, Alzheimer's  disease,  cardiovascular  disorders, Parkinson's disease and birth defects.

 

The Scripps Research Institute

10550 North Torrey Pines Rd., La Jolla (858) 784-1000 The Scripps Research Institute, one of the country's largest,  private.  nonprofit research  organizations, stands at the forefront of basic biomedical science, a vital segment of medical  research that seeks to comprehend the most fundamental processes of life. The institute is internationally recognized for its basic research into immunology, molecular and cellular biology, chemistry, neurosciences, autoimmune diseases, cardiovascular diseases and synthetic vaccine development. Particularly significant is the Institute's study of the basic structure and design of biological molecules.

 

UCSD Medical Center Hillcrest

200 West Arbor Dr., San Diego (619) 543-6222 San Diego's only academic health center, this 391-bed teaching hospital is affiliated with the University of California, San Diego and its UCSD Healthcare system. Services include: organ transplants, cancer center, cardiology,  pulmonary  disease,  trauma  center, women's health, neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric and adolescent medicine, neurology, stroke, regional burn and poison centers.

 

UCSD Thornton Hospital

 La Jolla 9300 Campus Point Dr., La Jolla (858) 657-7000 This 105-bed hospital is part of University of California, San Diego and its UCSD Healthcare system. Services include: cancer center, bone marrow and stem cell transplant, Shiley Eye Center, cardiology, pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE), orthopedic, spine and joint conditioning and senior behavioral health.

 

Veterans Affairs Medical Center San Diego

3350 La Jolla Village Drive, La Jolla (858) 552-8585 Opened in 1972, this 232-bed medical center is part of the Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System.

The VAMCSD has the largest research program in the VA system and studies a number of medical conditions including alcoholism and AIDS. It is also known for its sophisticated prosthetics program , Services include: AlDS research, surgery, neurology, diabetes research and treatment and rehabilitation therapy with emphasis on spinal cord injury.  Satellite clinics are located throughout the county.
